Everyone's Welcome- Whole school social justice project
Every year our whole school takes part in a project called 'Everyone's Welcome'
It has built on our Adrift Project, allowing children to further understand the plight of refugees. All of our classes read texts based on social justice and explore the issues across the curriculum. At the end of the project, the children showcase their work in an exhibition. Please see the newsletter at the bottom for further information.
The children have even composed their own song called 'Be Brave. Be Strong'
We are proud to hold the School of Sanctuary Award and we have pledged to support their work.
Through this work we are able to uphold the following principles.
- LEARN Schools help their students, staff and wider community learn about what it means to be seeking sanctuary and the issues surrounding forced migration.
- EMBED Schools are committed to creating a safe and inclusive culture of welcome that benefits everybody, including anyone in their community seeking sanctuary.
- SHARE Schools share their values and activities with their local communities.
